I think of her as my personal assistant who schedules all my doctor’s appointments and, due to my memory, will attend them with me. With her experience in healthcare, she will ask questions, take notes, coordinate refills of my prescriptions, and provide updates to my family. She also manages my pill box. Recently, I had eye surgery and needed 3 different eye drops, and for the first week, she would call me every 2 hours to remind me of what drops I needed to take. Since I no longer drive, she will take me out to run errands to the grocery store, pharmacy, dry cleaners, the bank, etc. She is so dedicated and helpful, and she keeps me laughing. I do not know where to start, but Allstar Care Solutions has been providing me invaluable assistance with the care of an 86-year-old dear friend of mine who is in memory care. I am her POA and Healthcare POA. She has no family in the area, so I am responsible for her well-being. Most do not realize what is involved in caring for a person with dementia. Bills still must be paid. Medical appointments must be scheduled, and medical decisions must be made. In addition, clothes and toiletries must be provided, and oversight must be provided to ensure the facility staff is providing the expected care.
